Does GuMax work with MediaWiki 1.16?

Hi,
I've downloaded and unzipped the GuMax skin into the /skins folder, but it's not showing up in my Preferences>Appearance list of skins, and it's not valid as a default skin.
I'm using the drop-down version of the skin.
I wasn't sure if the skin folder was supposed to stay named gumaxdd-1-3 or if I should rename it to gumaxdd, but neither seemed to work. Is there something else I'm supposed to do after downloading the files into /skins/gumaxdd-1-3 to get the skin to work?
I'm using MediaWiki 1.16.1, so I'm wondering if perhaps this skin doesn't work on 1.16.
