How do I change sidebar to dropdown sidebar?

Hello,
I'm trying to do something similar to this page with my wiki:
http://sentinels.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
Some people tell me it's done in CSS, others tell me it's done in Java...Can anyone direct me or help me out with finding out on how to do this?

It can be done with CSS, or php, or javascript. Go to google and find some sample code.

Paul,
That's the thing, I can find plenty of codes, but I know 0! about html, css or java. I mainly do stuff by trial and error, have even a test Wiki setup exclusively for that.
So the thing is once I acquire the code I have NO idea on how to actually implement it or where to put it. Any directions or a quick, dirty walkthrough?
Will really, really appreciate it!

This involves a lot of heavy coding, are you sure you want to go for that?
By comparing the sample code, then you need to code php part for that according to the sample code.

Well if someone can hold my arm why doing it, sure why not XD It's just I can't seem to find any skins for MediaWiki which will satisfy the guild website. So I decided to try and customize monobook skin for the need. One of the needs is darn sidebar with java/css.

This type of modification is time consuming, and I was thinking about this long time ago, I gave up after I realized there were a lot of work.
