How Do I add Google Analytics Extension

Post by aleforce »

First, Thanks for the great skin! Definitely the best I have found!

I am completely new to php and MediaWiki and am stuggling my way through this... so please bear with my ignorance.

I downloaded and installed the "Extension:Google Analytics Integration"
(http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawi ... hrev=29077) in order to use Google Analytics on the site (with GuMax 3.4.1).
I also modified Local Settings as explained http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension ... ntegration.

However, (I think) the extension is written for Monobook and I am not sure how to get it to work for the GuMax skin. Any ideas on how I could accomplish this?

In advance many thanks for the help.

Never mind, I figured out a work around: I didn't realize that I could simply add the GA snippet just before the body tag .... which I did: problem solved.

Is this true? The extension doesn't work with the Gumax skin?

A few days ago I installed version 2 with my mediawiki 1.11.2 and my gumax skin. Google analytics says that it recognizes the code but it seems weird because my traffic has died. I know that one person registered this morning and two other people simply visited (I asked them to visit). Yet 5 hours later still no traffic. I know it's not the delay because my blog is showing healthy traffic.

Is there a compatibility issue with something? Any suggestions?

Try this:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension ... ntegration

No clue if it works (I just did it and it hasn't been long enough to see my results) but it looks pretty solid.

I just checked out my analytics and it seems to be working just fine! SO that extension should be good to go.
