Banner image

Post by macaque »

Hello,

I've placed my banner image under the path skins/gumax/images/header/main_page.jpg, but no banner image displays on the page. Am I missing a setting to enable the banner display like in the screenshot?

Thanks

No, that should have done it, well at least it worked for me....

Make sure you renamed the your image exactly as the old image located at skins/gumax/images/header/ main_page.jpg.

I overwrote the original image with the new one. But even before replacing the image, the old image didn't display on a fresh GuMax install either.

I've got it up at http://capuchin.acaro.org:5000/

I really can't figure out what I'm missing.

Thanks

Can you give me the zip file of the skin you are using?

I am using a slightly different skin package, and I dont have the issue you are experiencing.
I have a different issue with my skin.
If you give me the zip file I can uncompress it on my server and try to replicate this issue.

Thanks

The skin I'm using is GuMax 3.4.1 available at http://www.paulgu.com/files/getfile/getfile.php?id=1

My installation is unmodified... out of the box it doesn't display the banner for me.

Also my MediaWiki install is a freshly config'd 1.14.0

The image files are case sensitive, if your Main Page is spelled with the first letters as upper case the image name should be Main_Page.jpg if spelled in lower case the image should be named main_page.jpg.

I just tried switching to Main_Page.jpg instead of main_page.jpg but still the same issue.

It's running off of a Windows host too which I believe would treat any case variations as the same filename.

Ok then, I saw that you are running MediaWiki v1.14.0, so you actually need to update your skin.php to v1.14.0 standards or you will have lots of problems. Search this forums on how to this, and most likely will solve this problem.

Thanks mac77 for your quick response :)...

There is another way to get the banner image to work, view html source code of the page, then find the page class name in body tag...
