The 60 watt light bulb that just won't quit was installed in 1901 and has burned continuously, except for a few blackouts and some outlet moves, at it's home home in the Livermore Ca., fire station. It's used as a nightlight over the firetrucks and is never turned off.

Interesting piece of article. It is puzzling me though how it could last that long. I reckon that there is some component in it that charges itself up so that it can supply its own form of energy as its maintenance.

It can be a little dangerous though considering the hazards posted by light bulbs especially if they already reach that age when they are not that efficient any more.
